Chion-in(知恩院) Japanese temple in Kyoto

Located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto, Chion-in is connected to Hōnen (1133-1212), the founder of the Jōdo Shū (Pure Land Sect) of Buddhism. It was here at Chion-in that Hōnen taught chanting the name of Amida (Sanskrit: Amitabha) to attain salvation, and it was here that he spent his final years. Today, with over 7,000 temples, the teachings of Hōnen have spread throughout Japan. Since 1523, Chion-in has been the head temple of the Jōdo Shū.

Also, Chion-in is highly appealing from a cultural standpoint, since it received donations from the Tokugawa shogun (supreme military commander) during the early Edo (1600-1867) period, and was built by the master artisans of the day.(From Chion-in HP)

I’ve never been to Chion-in(it’s MIO who took the picture!) but hear that it is very nice temple.
Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkakuji, Ginkakuji…are very famous but if you’ve been there why don’t you try CHION-IN?

The other day, I talked about Shinkansen(Japanese TGV, simply saying…very very fast train).
Did you know that there is a seat called “Green Car”???

Say, normal seat of Shinkansen is an economy class, “Green Car” are all “First Class” seats.
First of all, there are more space…

If you have an earphone, you can listen to radio and music!

Yes, it’s more expensive but it’s way more comfortable!

Shinkansen(新幹線) -Japanese TGV- !

Do you know Shinkansen(新幹線)?
It is a train which goes from west to east and south to north of Japan
Very fast, and the look is stylish too!

The seats are a bit bigger than as in the plane.
Very clean, very quiet.
It is a bit expensive compare to TGV in France but, is very comfortable.

If you are a foreigner who is planning to travel all over Japan, I recommend you buy a JAPAN RAIL PASS.
You get to chose 7day pass, 14day pass or 21 day pass for a quite reasonable price.

Have a luxury travel!
